SOCIAL MEDIA

FOR PRESIDENT

.

With the upcoming election, staying up to date on current Presidential debates is essential; especially considering this is a record-breaking year that is expecting the least amount of people to vote. Social media has been a groundbreaking platform that concentrates on millennial’s to get out and vote. From meme’s to live streams, social media is bound to reach a larger audience in a way that regular broadcasts would never have.

This year’s election has been amusing to say the least, and how would the world go on without the Donald Trump meme’s? Through the use of hash tags, Twitter has helped to blow up social media with hysterical tweets that have a sense of humor that is entertaining, and both informative to a younger generation that social media revolves its business around. Also, Twitter now is able to live stream each debates, and for those who aren’t interested in watching it on TV, you are able to watch the live feed while reading tweets with the hash tags (if Donald Trumps tweets were not enough entertainment for you). Besides, what is a better way to get a younger generation to vote than giving them the opportunity to comment about Hillary’s outfits?

We all have that opinionated friend on Facebook who posts their political stand point, but Facebook also offers a live feed option to watch the debates online. The different aspect between Facebook and Twitter is that Facebook features more videos, while Twitter focuses on links and text. Through Facebook, you can’t help but stumble upon the video’s that make light of the debate, with the occasional Saturday Night Live skits. Facebook came out with a statement recently stating that it is a “great way to reach and mobilize supporters and voters that candidates need to win elections.” With over 200 million U.S users, it is no doubt a great way to get people to vote.
