Face to Face with Piet Madisha Getting to know Piet our west wing attendant at SNA Pretoria office Tell us a little bit about yourself. I was born in Zebeliela (Zebe for short) near Mokopane in Polokwane. When I was 10 years old my family (my parents, brother and sister) and I moved to KwaNdebele in Gauteng. I stayed there for many years before I moved to Pretoria. In Zebe we stayed on a farm, it was so peaceful and relaxing. We were surrounded by nature, heard the birds singing and had all the freedom and space to do what ever activities we wanted to. I can still remember the farm days watching the cattle, goats ,chickens and growing crops. I would love to go back and retire in Zebe. When did you start at SNA? I can’t remember the date, but it was December of 1989. The Managing Director was Dolf van Huyssteen and Louis Wessels and Dave Temple were Directors. How did you join the SNA team? And who were your friends when you joined SNA? I initially worked for VKE (they were temporarily based on the second floor of the SNAVIA building at the time). I made friends with 3 guys from the SNA Pretoria office: Pasty (tea man), Abram (print room man) and Simon (driver). After they heard that VKE was relocating they went to Louis and asked him to employ me (their hard- working friend) to work at SNA. And from that day I have been with SNA. All thanks to my friends (and Louis of course). What is your favourite sport? And your favourite team? It would have to be soccer. The team I support (even when I was a child) is Moroka Swallows. My favourite players are Lefa Tsutsulupa, Rodney Charles, Rodney Bosch. The team’s slogan is “Don’t follow me. Follow the birds.” What is your favourite food? I love Pig trotters. I cook it in a potjie pot with some chilli and other spices. It takes long to cook, but it’s worth it. What I love most about it is the stickiness. It is also said to help with healthy joints. You like to play Lotto and Powerball, what is the most you have won? The most I have ever won was in the Lotto and it was R7500! I like to say: “You need to work hard, work hard to get the money” and” You can’t be rich if you don’t play”. The question everyone wants to ask, what is your favourite; Tea or Coffee? I enjoy Rooibos tea the most, with 2 sugars and 3 milk  By Nicole Toy 4
