The protocol below must be followed when a student is riding home on another student’ s bus:
1. A note from the enrolling adult requesting that their child be allowed to ride home with a child on another bus.
2. A note from the receiving enrolling adult acknowledging that another child is riding home on their child’ s school bus.
3. All bus transportation changes must be submitted to the front office upon arrival to school. Note: Bus change requests are subject to the availability of seats. 4. All notes are verified by the front office personnel. 5. Once verified, bus passes will be made available at dismissal from the front office.
Messages to Students In our quest to provide engaging instruction in the classroom daily, students will not be called out of class for messages, telephone calls, or to retrieve items. All stated emergencies will be handled on a case-by-case basis. For emergencies, adults must call the school directly. Family members should refrain from texting their student while he / she is in school. Texting a student during the school day causes a class disruption, distracts students from learning, and may result in student consequences.
Deliveries The front office staff is not able to make delivery of items such as balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, gifts, birthday cakes, cupcakes, etc. to students. These types of deliveries create unnecessary interruptions to the learning environment.
To protect instructional time, we will not call students from class to retrieve school related items such as flash drives, projects or school assignments; however, we will email teachers when a student has an item to retrieve from the front office. Exceptions include lunch( no fast food), lunch money, or eyeglasses.
Visitors: Any individual visiting school must report to the front office upon arriving on campus and is required to sign-in at the front office and obtain a guest pass. Identification is required.
1. Classroom Observation: Families who want to observe a class may do so only after receiving prior approval from the principal or a designee. Classroom observations should be arranged 24 hours in advance with the classroom teacher( s). Please review the District’ s Administrative Rule KM-R regarding visitors to schools.
2. Eating lunch with a student: Families are invited to eat lunch with their children. Please remember to sign in and get a Visitor’ s Pass from the Front Office. Due to school guidelines, do not bring or deliver any food from restaurants to students. Smitha’ s goal is to provide a healthy meal for students.
