DIY: How to Make a String Scarf
By Eliza Martinez
Scarves are a hot trend right now, so you probably want to fill your closet with a variety of options. Problem is,
they don’t always come cheap. For a just few dollars and a little bit of work,
you can make yourself a way cool string scarf that you won’t see on any of
your friends’ necks.
Items Needed:
2 t-shirts (both the same color or two different colors)
Scissors
Headband embellishments

Lay each t-shirt out on a flat work surface. Cut off the arms and neckline of
the shirts, leaving a rough square behind.
Cut up one side of the t-shirt so you can open it up into one long,
flat rectangle. Remove both seams.

Starting at the bottom of the t-shirt, cut it into strips about a ½-inch
wide. Continue up the shirt until you have a pile of strings. Repeat
with the other t-shirt.
Gently grasp each end of the t-shirt strings and pull outward
until they roll. You can do several strips at one time.

Cut one strip in half and set it aside.
