SYBILLE TILDSLEY - CANBERRA & WESTERN SYDNEY

As 2013 draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the whole Canberra and Western Sydney teams as well as the Sydney and Newcastle teams who have helped us with our work and proposals over the last 12 months.

Thank you to all of you for welcoming me at the beginning of 2013 in Canberra and more recently in Western Sydney. We have achieved some great things over the last year including almost closing two major legacy contamination projects, sneaking in front of our competition winning a lot of structures projects which had been with others long term and consolidating our presence in the Construction Site Services area and diversifying with RMS projects. Winning the coveted National UDIA prize for Linking Canberra City to the Lake was a highlight and delivering the design for Constitution Avenue and transforming it back to Griffin's vision of a Boulevard was a real achievement. Winning the first phase of the Canberra Light Rail to the surprise of all our competitors was extremely rewarding as was developing and delivering SMECAsset to our first client. We maintained our status of preferred consultant to Brett Cornish and are preparing the next phase of his delivery plans, positioning ourselves to embark on a new era of Urban renewals with UrbanGrowth and diversifying our client bases to new successful ventures such as FKP and AVJennings.

I wish you all a fantastic time over Christmas and the New Year festivities, a well-deserved break with your families ready for what 2014 and its future promise will bring us.

Thank you!

DANIEL SUTCLIFFE - NEWCASTLE

Newcastle has made some big changes this year and it hasn’t all been easy but 2014 looks like a strong and exciting year for us, especially considering the pipeline of projects we have with both private and Government clients. In facing the market the team is now a well rounded, saleable team with local experience. What we offer matches what the market needs now and will need as the market heats up.

We have made significant inroads with major clients including ARTC, RMS, local Councils and Mining Companies (Glencore, Yancoal, RioTinto and Whitehaven).

These relationships will be integral to our growth and success next year.

We have broken down the silo mentality with significant opportunities and work share between Newcastle and other Australian offices, and International. Also, the cross selling of our skills with other offices and amongst local Newcastle teams has significantly improved.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in this office for continuing to keep your chins up in difficult times, I am sure we will be rewarded in the coming year for all of our efforts.

I hope you all have a relaxing Christmas and come back ready to face the challenges that 2014 will undoubtedly bring.
