SCRIVENER DAM SAFETY & SURVEILLANCE

SMEC ACT has been awarded a 3 year contract to carry out dam safety and surveillance consultancy services at Scrivener Dam for the National Capital Authority (NCA) in Canberra. This contract results in SMEC becoming the NCA’s ‘trusted advisor’ and principal source of technical advice and recommendations on dam safety management.

Impounding the Molongolo River creating Lake Burley Griffin, Scrivener Dam is a concrete gravity dam where SMEC will be conducting regular safety inspections as well as providing monitoring and dam safety engineering services.

The new role is more proactive than previously undertaken, building on the good relationship with the client developed over the past three years.

In addition to the regular dam safety services, SMEC will undertake a major dam safety review in the first year of the contract followed by a detailed risk assessment providing the NCA with a risk reduction strategy and ongoing risk management tool for the dam.

Special congratulations go to Gowri Pincombe, Vic Vigneswaran and Steve Baker for their leadership and contribution to the tender.
