WATER HEATER REPAIR – WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU GET NO HOT WATER? • Before you call in a pro, you may want to check a few things to deal with certain water heater issues. A common issue is to have no hot water every time you turn your water heater on. If you proceed carefully, you can certainly fix the issue on your own. There is no point in having a water heater installed when it fails to provide you with hot water whenever you require. So many things could be the root cause of the trouble. You may have a faulty thermocouple or a bad pilot. A control valve can also go bad but can be fixed if the issue is not serious. • When you have a gas water heater and it is not offering hot water, be sure to check the pilot first. You have to understand that your heater will refuse to work if the pilot light has not turned on. What it means is that you may not be getting hot water because the pilot fails to ignite the gas burner. It could be the result of a number of problems. For instance, you may have a bad thermocouple. It is basically a sensor that allows the gas to reach the tip of the pilot light. The thermocouple has two ends one of which is inside the pilot burner and the other one is attached to the valve. The pilot flame procures heat that generates a small voltage and helps keep the gas valve open.
