Business Room
This year Litchfield added a more traditional Business Curriculum in the high school. New teacher, Mrs.
Lynette Finley is changing and adding course offerings. The courses offered to high school students
are Accounting, Agribusiness, Business Communications, Career Development, Personal Finance,
Information Technology, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship. These courses are open to 9-12 students.
Mrs. Finley hopes to meet the needs of students pursuing careers and college focus to give them a
basic foundation of business.
Some of the educational insights she will do with the students is to bring virtual tours and business op-
portunities to the classroom for the students to explore and learn about. Tours to area businesses will
be done for students to learn about the local business and career opportunities available for students to
pursue.
The FBLA business organization is also going to be available to 7-12 students. Currently there are 22
members signed up in the club. FBLA is an organization to help students learn civic and leadership
skills while learning about business and careers. This years officers planned the yearly event calendar
of service and fundraising activities involving the entire school and community. Some upcoming events
are: roadside cleanup, reading buddies with the elementary students, tailgate on Aug. 31st, area meet-
ing, Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser, and various leadership conventions.
New Teacher Mrs. Miller

Mrs. Katherine Miller is a new staff member at Litchfield. She is one of
the preschool teachers at Litchfield. She graduated from UNK with a BA
in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Early Childhood in
1996. She later obtained her Unified Degree in Early Childhood.
Mrs. Miller will be teaching children age 3 preschool as well as helping in
the Afterschool Program. She loves working with children and wants to
make a difference in a child’s life. Miller said, “Children are our future and
I want to be a positive part of their life.”
Mrs. Miller is looking forward to meeting and working with all the children, their families and the peo-
ple around her. She finds it interesting to see the children or grandchildren of people she grew up with.
As a young child she grew up in Mason City, then when she was going into 8th grade her family
moved to Broken Bow. She still lives there today with her husband and her dog Molli. She married her
high school sweetheart and they had two children. A boy named Tyic and a girl named Jena. They are
both grown. Mrs. Miller had 5 grandchildren from Tyic. Her daughter Jena is in the Air Force and sta-
tioned overseas.
