Litchfield State Visual Artwork
Saturday, Omaha will host a celebration for students whose
work has been accepted into the State Visual Art Show. Litch-
field will be sending three works: Rachel Linden’s “Rainbow
Flower” in the mixed media category. Wendy Brandt’s
“Dreamer” in the painting category and Siarah Willenberg’s
“Volleyball Color Rush” in Mixed Media as well. They are pic-
tured before their work was delivered to Omaha to be put on
display.
The works are evaluated by a panel of creative professionals
and judged using a rubric. Thousands of works are submitted
but few are chosen to represent Nebraska as the best of high
school artists. Since 1923 the awards have recognized some
of America’s most celebrated artists while they were teenag-
ers, including: Andy Warhol, Ken Burns and Kay Walkingstick
among others. The artwork will be displayed for the month of
March at Omaha Public School’s TAC building.
This is a nationwide competition that begins at the state level.
This year all three of the Litchfield students were awarded
“Honorable Mention”. Much like sports to be able to be at the
state level of competition is a great honor. Congrats Litchfield
students!
