Boys Basketball I asked Mr. Drew how he thinks boys basketball is going and he said, “We came into the season with high expectations and I do not believe that the results we have had met those expectations. The early season was a struggle with injuries, sickness, and the players missing due to activities and holiday breaks. We were able to beat Hi-Line, but the next weekend we lost to Fullerton and Elm Creek, although both are state rated this was disappointing. After those games we had a busy 9 days, playing six games. In those six games we went 5-1. Following the Christmas Break we were able to win the Holiday Tournament with a good win over Central Valley. In this previous week and we played two C-2 teams with a nail biter against Amherst that we could not finish and a great shooting night that led to a win against Ravenna.” Our defense has continued to improve and our offense is develop- ing, we have made some tweaks on what positions players are play- ing and different movements we would like. Parker LeFever has flashes of his amazing athleticism, with many steals, without going for every steal, and drives with exciting finishes. Tyler Schukei has given us some size and inside scoring this year, and has been more active on defense of late. Tycen Bailey our point guard has become more selfish, which is weird to say but a good thing. Jeff Cunning- ham is starting to find his shot and conditioning following injuries. He is also doing a nice job on defense. Jackson Henry had a great shooting and defensive night against Ravenna, and has made us rethink his position. Caden Holm, a sophomore has excelled in our offense and has been guarding the opposing team’s best shooters with success. Calvin Finley has shot the ball well and has had a few great defensive nights, always fun to watch bigs try and post up with little success. Nathan Wardyn and Sam Loy have been important cogs in supplying minutes when we are in foul trouble. Nathan, Sam, and Leyton Rohde really help us in practice in pushing us to be better, this will help them in the future. Hopefully we continue to work hard and reach our high expectations.” -Kaleb Rosentreader Boys working hard on defense against Ravenna
