Summary of Meeting This formal board meeting with action items is scheduled to be brief to allow the board of education to visit with the superintendent search team after the formal action items have been approved . We hope to be able to begin that discussion by 8:00 . I Love Public Schools Video To begin our meeting we will watch a short video in regard to education in Nebraska sponsored by “ I Love Public Schools Website .” The information is interesting and talks about the difference educators and education policy are making in our state . Board Policy Recommendations by NASB ( Pages 3-6 ) Two policies have been forwarded to the district and are recommended by the NASB . They are 509.03 and 804.01 . I would ask board members to read and review the policies and we will ask for first reading approval at the November meeting . School Wellness Guidelines ( 8A-8E ) Included in the board packet are school wellness guidelines that should be put behind the School Wellness Board Policy 508.13 . Please add these guidelines to your policy manual . Gym Floor Final Financials ( 7 ) Attached , as part of this packet , is a summary from Alicap in regard to the final insurance payments and school district payments for the new gym floor . Anderson Ladd has deducted another $ 1,000 dollars for this project . Total cost for the district will be $ 43,710 and that will be paid out of the building fund . Please know that Alicap has been very helpful in assisting the district during our gym floor loss and their adjuster did a wonderful job in settling our claim . Repair of the Cooling Coil Repair of the large unit heating coil by Trane is scheduled for the 19 th of the month providing the replacement part arrives on time . The new coil will have a 1 year warranty for parts and labor . The company will be examining the unit for any unusual vibrations or faulty support to make sure the unit will run without excessive wear and tear to the new coil . Audit Completion On October 13 , the district completed the audit for our school district . Congratulations and appreciation is extended to Tasha Fletcher for her work in preparing for the audit . Appreciation is also extended to Danielle McAuliff for her work with the management of our federal lunch program records through power school . Tasha ’ s work this summer in the transfer of electronic records to a new software accounting system was instrumental in helping the district to take a positive step to better manage the district ’ s financial matters . NASA Publication ( 9-20 ) I have included a report from the executive director of the NSAA . The publication will give information to the board in regard to all of the school activities in our state . It gives websites and locations for every question you want to answer . Please read and review about the outstanding activities programming that is happing in Nebraska Public Schools . NASB State Education Conference ( 21-35 ) The Nebraska State School Board Conference is being held on November 17th and 18th this year in Omaha . A schedule of the sessions is included in the board packet . Once again , there are some critical issues that Nebraska education will be facing .
Tentative Agenda : Wednesday November 16 Travel to Omaha , check in the hotel , and meet for supper at 7:00 PM . We are scheduled to stay at the Embassy Suites Downtown and I believe the Ansley board of education is staying in that location , too . Superintendent Search Team Discussion
Robin Stevens and Fred Helmink will be at the meeting to talk with the board about the process for hiring a
new superintendent . At this meeting the board will discuss in executive session the position including
contract and salary considerations that will be advertised for the position . Mitch has emailed board
members a questionnaire that they should complete and bring to the meeting .
