Representative Assembly
RESOLUTIONS
The spring meeting of the SMA Representative Assembly was held May 9 and 10, 2014 in Regina. These are the
resolutions that were carried or referred to the board during the meeting.
Resolution 1
That the following member be appointed to the Representative Assembly:
• Mike Bayda, Mamawetan Churchill RMA
• Anthony, Akinnawonu, Sunrise RMA

Resolution 2
That the narrative portion of the reports be received for
information.
Sridhar/Abdulla -Carried
Resolution 3
That the Representative Assembly approve the actions of
the Board as reported.
Strydom/Sridhar - Carried
Resolution 4
That the Representative Assembly approve the SMA financial statements for the year ending December 31,
2013 as enclosed in the RA Delegate Package (Appendix
A).

Resolution 7
That the SMA encourages the Ministry to correct bylaws
and regulations that currently allow pharmacists to both
prescribe and dispense medication, except in unusual
circumstances, whilst explicitly preventing physicians
from doing so.

That the SMA impress upon the Ministry of Health that allied health practitioners who are allowed to assume medical functions in a non-collaborative relationship must be
responsible for the results of their care, including followup of lab tests, on a 24/7 basis.

for the SMA for the year ending 2014.

That the RA direct the SMA Board to respond to the recent comments from the SRNA Executive Director in the
Regina Leader Post stating that “If you talk to any patient
who has seen a nurse practitioner, they won’t go back to
seeing a family doctor. They love their nurse practitioner.”
