YOUR SMA
make wise choices for the sake of the
health care system. We need to not
only participate in system transformation but lead the way. Physicians
need to be the example for all other
health care providers. If we are willing to make changes in the way we
practice and support initiatives to
find efficiencies in the system, it will
benefit our patients as well as us.
Another benefit physicians can bring
to their patients is to have membership in the practitioner staff of their
home region. By doing this, you will
improve your relationships with colleagues and provide better care for
the patients in your region as you will
be an integral part of the coordination and monitoring of their care. We,
as physicians, should be seeking excellence in our practices, and improving our quality and effectiveness will
allow us to serve our patients better.
The SMA Board of Directors and senior management staff recently met
to create a new strategic plan. This
plan will give the SMA direction to
ensure we are serving the current
and emerging needs of our members.

on the details of this document and
should have it ready to present on
the fall tour.
I look forward to meeting as many
of you as possible this September
and October when Dr. Mark Brown
and I tour the health regions. Your
thoughts and ideas are always appreciated and they drive our passion
to serve you better. Please feel free to

Sincerely,
We, as
physicians,
should be
seeking
excellence
in our
practices.
