Smiling Eyes - a
Rotaract Club Event
Date: 28th August
Time: 9 A.M to 4 P.M
“Smiling Eyes” was a dental and eye check - up camp, an initiative taken by the Rotaract club
of PDPU in partners with Orchid Clinic. The camp was set up for 3 days, 28th, 29th and 30th
of August; targeting mainly the support staff of the college who cannot afford or leave their
working hours to visit clinics for their eye or dental check -ups. The checkup camp was
provided for free to all within the college. The event did not just limit itself to students but
included housekeeping, the security force, catering staff and teachers alike. A team of 8
doctors of the Orchid Clinic took over the dental and eye health of the entire campus.
All three days saw an incoming of numerous housekeeping staff, the security persons in
batches, the canteen staff, students and faculties too who were carefully explained by Dr.
Tapas Raval and Dr. Dhruvi Raval about their eye and dental health, how they should take care
and maintain their eye and dental health along with a team of well trained doctors. The camp
provided free basic medicines and eye drops. Also, spectacles with frames were provided at a
very reasonable rate. We had students from all branches of the University, i.e. SLS, SOT, SPT
and SPM. Not only did the doctors provide the check -up but they also provided each patient
with an ID card that provides them a 25% discount for future visits at the clinic.
The check up camp saw a total of 283 patients in the course of the three days. The doctors
were provided with mementos for outstanding support in promoting Rotary International's
ideals and their service provided for the betterment of our community. The event provided
benets in more than just one direction, leaving the campus with brighter smiles and happier
eyes.
