This issue of SLS Mirror covers the events and activities for the month of
February 2019. To begin with, I would like to talk about the most notable
event of the month. Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU)
hosted a Distinguished Lecture by Prof. R.A. Mashelkar on February 26,
2019 at its auditorium. Prof. Mashelkar delivered the lecture on the topic
‘From Incremental to Disruptive Game-changing ASSURED Innovation’.
Prof. Mashelkar supported his lecture with a number of case studies to explain how disrupted game
changing innovation is required to get an ultimate outcome from any business or innovation.
Among the Key Events of SLS, the ‘6th Study in India Programme’ (SIP) was conducted from
February 1, 2019 to February 15, 2019. The aim of the programme was to focus on Indian
Psychology. A delegation comprising 17 students and two academicians from the field of Psychology
from Edith Cowan University in Perth in Australia attended the programme.
The Human Resource Department of PDPU in collaboration with the Psychology area of the
Department of Social Sciences organized an expert talk on ‘Stress Management for Academic
Excellence’ by Dr. Udaya Kumar Reddy on February 25, 2019 for the faculty members, staffs and
students of PDPU.
The various departments of the School of Liberal Studies (SLS) hosted a number of events during
this month. An event known as ‘Career Conclave’ was organized on February 1, 2019 by the
Department of Business Administration and Commerce of SLS. Micheal Louis Flores, a practicing
Consultant was invited as an eminent speaker for this conclave.
The Library and Information Centre in collaboration with the Department of Business Administration
and Department of Social Sciences organized a workshop on MS Excel on February 11, 2019 and
February 12, 2019. Dr. Vijay Jariwala, an Assistant professor from the Faculty of Economics at
Sardar Patel University at Anand was the instructor for the workshop. The objective of the workshop
was to train students on the usage of MS Excel and provide hands-on practice on data analysis.
A workshop was organized on February 22, 2019 for the final year students of Human Resource
Management on the topic ‘Understanding International Human Resource Management (IHRM)’. The
workshop was conducted by Dr. Manasi Parikh.
A workshop on ‘Industrial Relations Evolution in India’ was conducted by Ranjan Derhgawen, I/C
Training & SEE (Separated Employees Establishment) at ONGC on February 25, 2019. The
workshop was attended by the third and fourth semester students of Human Resource Management.
Seven students from the Master of Arts (MA) programme under the Psychology area and ten
undergraduate students of Psychology completed a one-month long internship in the month of
February 2019. The internship was conducted at Kanoria Hospital and Research Centre for the
