Travel Insight
A pitch perfect combination of history and modern design awaits you at Das Triest, a former
coach station used by travelers en route to the spas of Trieste. Austrian architect Peter Lorenz
and British interior designer Sir Terence Conran joined forces to preserve parts of the original
structure, combining elements of imperial elegance with sober lines. The result is a sharp
contrast to the city’s charming, late 19th-century Art Nouveau architecture. Subtle nautical
touches like old ship railings and flags feature throughout the hotel, evoking an indirect homage
to the port city of Trieste that carries over into the amply-appointed 72 guestrooms and suites,
which feature porthole mirrors and windows in the bathrooms. Specially commissioned
photographs of Trieste and Vienna further celebrate a connection to the building's historic role
in international travel. Today's travelers yearning for reserved nostalgia combined with modern
comforts will have found what they're looking for. Please note: On weekdays between 08:00 -
18:00 renovation work is currently taking place in the property´s annex building. Some noise or
light disturbances may occur.
