Debate Club Update

Mr . Brown said he would try and arrange a debate every month . He also said , “ I was very happy to see a lot of people in the audience .”

On October 28 , the first debate of the school year occurred . The prompt was about whether or not we should celebrate Halloween . There were a lot of people who came to watch compared to other debates in previous years , and it had the largest attendance ever for a live debate in the auditorium .
Alex Brown , the Speech and Debate teacher , was in charge of the event .
Patris-Daciana Corduneanu ( 8th grader ), a student who was part of the audience said , “ I really enjoyed it , and I had fun listening to each speaker ’ s speeches .” She said that she enjoyed the intensity of the offense and defense .
Throughout the years , the debate club has been growing bigger and bigger . Both teachers and students that want to watch the debates are welcome to watch after school . The debate club encourages all secondary students to participate . According to Mr . Brown , upcoming debate topics include human cloning and Christmas controversies .
