Kyle Gumangan ( G12 ):
“ I think that SLAS ’ s safety protocols are not only sufficient , but they value the safety of every member of the school community . Now that these procedures are placed from the beginning to the end of school , I feel safe , yet upset , because students aren ’ t about to engage in as many group activities [ as before ].”
Intisar Alkhatib ( G9 ):
“ The new safety procedures undeniably changed many aspects of my life . I miss a lot of things from the old way of life , including doing collaborative work in class , socializing more , and overall being able to act like everything is normal . What I miss the most would be sports . COVID has deprived leagues in Shanghai to host competitions , therefore robbing sports like volleyball , basketball , and track & field of their core meaning .”
Martina Barona ( G11 ):

“ The school is doing a good job keeping track [ of us ], and trying to minimize contact with large groups . However , I don ’ t think we should record health checks at wildcat every day since we show up to school and show our health QR codes at the entrance . I miss eating in the cafeteria with all my friends because that was the time we would catch up and talk with each other . However , I do understand that we are better safe than sorry .”
Andrew Park ( G11 ):
“ I still cannot adapt to the new safety procedures in school . I cannot get used to checking in and social distancing . However , I fully understand the purpose of these procedures and why I should follow them . I miss school life without COVID-19 , and the days without social distancing .”
