BY JONASON ZHANG
Basketball is one of the most popular spor ts
at Shanghai Livingston American School
(SLAS). The high school boys’ basketball
season began in late fall and ends in late
Januar y. They finished their first game and
hope to be competitive all season. Rodney J. Wadkins, the coach of the boys’ basketball
team said, “The team has done great so far, but they
got a lot to improve on. I think the team will do very
good this year as long as we practice.” He also added,
“I have faith in them that they can be the undefeated
team, the rest is up to them.”
Masaki Monji, the student coach of the boy’s
basketball team said, “I was the captain of the team,
but then I got injured, so I became the student coach
of the team.” He then added, “The team is doing pretty
good so far, but it would be better if we practice on
weak points and work on discipline.” The basketball team has done pretty well so far. Their
larger goal is to go undefeated and make a
tournament and let’s hope it stays that way. Everyone
is looking forward to seeing how the basketball team
does this season.
The basketball team is doing pretty well so far. Their
first game was against the French school, and won
by 20 points. They will soon be playing against other
schools such as YCIS, SAS Puxi, BISS, SCIS, and SSIS
Suzhou. The team will have their final tournament on
January 14th. There are a lot of people who
contributed to improving the team. Coach Rodney
Wadkins and the student coach Masaki Monji have
really helped to put the team together. Jerry Wang
is the captain of the team, and has also contributed
to improving the team though his work ethic and
leadership on the court.
