greatest change was the immersion of technology into daily life. There is access to media everywhere, including social media. Computers can be found in libraries, school, at home, science institutions, etc. Also, the creation of more advanced gaming systems has taken the youth by storm. The ability to access the internet through gaming system is one of the greatest immersions of technology.

Chelsea Clinton and James P. Steyer were the authors of CNN’s recent article called, Is The Internet Hurting Children? While elaborating on the subject title, the authors say, “By the time they're 2 years old, more than 90% of all American children have an online history. At 5, more than 50% regularly interact with a computer or tablet device, and by 7 or 8, many kids regularly play video games. Teenagers text an average of 3,400 times a month.and by 7 or 8, many kids regularly play video games. Teenagers text an average of 3,400 times a month. The fact is, by middle school, our kids today are spending more time with media than with their parents or teachers, and the challenges are vast: from the millions of young people who regret by high school what they've already posted about themselves online to the widely documented rise in cyberbullying to the hypersexualization of female characters in video games.”

The harsh reality of this situation is that once exposed to a large sum of media, there is no way to reverse the damage done. At a young age, the brain is like a sponge, soaking up information quickly and retaining it at an outstanding rate. Time cannot be reversed to stop this exposure from happening.

There are many ways to battle over exposure to technology, but there also needs to be a balance between technology and regular activities. With the statistics given, this also reveals that the more time spent with technology, less time is spent in physical activities. less time is spent in physical activities. This leads to one of America’s biggest problems; obesity.

While obesity may be caused from various things, one of the main sources is lack of physical fitness. With the reducing rate of physical activity in American public schools, obesity becomes a greater battle to fight. Many have managed to irresponsibly waste money on technology, instead of making healthy food choices, working out regularly, and truly examining everyday activities. Technology expanded vastly due to the fact that it’s easily accessible. Physical training at facilities often has an age limit, making it harder for youth to be exposed to a better lifestyle

Now that technology touches every aspect of everyday life, a drastic change in our exposure would be far too alarming to society. Step by step approaches need to be taken in order to fight the battle of overexposure. The damage is done for good, but there is still time to save the next generation of the current troubles of technology. Hopefully, in time, the issues such as cyberbullying and hypersexualization will be replaced with tips on how to live a healthy lifestyle. Thus limiting the negative effects of exposure to social networking and video games.
