Society plays a big role in the lives of young women. The pressure to be thin and sexy is more adamant than ever, and it seems like that is how life is going to continue. Girls between the ages of 13-18 are involving themselves in riskier lifestyles and following trends that they see in movies and books. It's hard to grow up in a world where beauty is the main concern. Tv and magazines are some of the biggest influences on young people. The negative impact affects their self-confidence and tears them apart.

Statistics show that the average American girl will watch 5,000 hours of television before starting kindergarten. Many younger children dedicate their Saturday mornings to cartoons. In one hour of cartoon watching there are 33 commercials per hour. In these commercials the are gossiping,
