Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Skill India campaign in New Delhi. Skill India aims to train 4 billion people by 2022. The government of India also launched the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), skill loan scheme. Skill Loan scheme provides financial help to youth from Rs 5,000 to 1.5 lakhs to 34 lakh youth across the country.

India should emerge as the 'human resource capital' of the world as China has become a global 'manufacturing factory', Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while launching skill india campaign is a part of GOI(Government of India) to win war against unemployment and poverty in India.

Citizens of India have huge capabilities and this has been recognized the world over since centuries. We have forgotten the skills. PM Modi say adding the training institutes in India need to be dynamic. Skill India emphasis is to skill the youths in such a way so that they get employment improve entrepreneurship. Provides support, guidance and training for all occupations that were of traditional type like welders, blacksmiths, masons, cobblers, carpenters, tailors, weavers , nurses, etc. More emphasis given on new areas like construction, jewellery designing, transportation, real estate, textile, banking, tourism and various other sectors, where skill development is nil.

Objectives of Skill India

• Create opportunities for all to acquire skills throughout life, and especially for youth, women and disadvantaged groups.

• Develop a high-quality skilled workforce/entrepreneur relevant to current and emerging employment market needs.

• Economically Challenged: Persons below Poverty Line Skill development for employability is an important strategy in the fight against poverty.
