SKIDDY: I’m so happy for you.
BELO: These sponsorships are luxuries.
Skateboarding doesn’t owe me anything,
and I’m just grateful to have it. I’m super
grateful for any exposure and support, and
of course product.
SKIDDY: Do you think alcohol got in the
way of your skating?
BELO: Alcohol got in the way of everything
in my life. I can’t touch alcohol. It took a toll.
It had its moments, I just had enough of em.
SKIDDY: In skateboarding, alcohol seems
to go hand in hand.
BELO: Drinking was never a mystery growing
up. I don’t think drinking in skateboarding
is at all what it used to be but it’s totally
there.. I mean, you got people like Andrew
Reynolds, The Boss , straight sober. I know
there’s a bunch of other rippers that are
sober. I think getting sober just gives life
to skating again, in a way. People fall victim
to the party scene a lot. I was pretty much
BACK TAIL - JOSH BECKER
cause that’s what I grew up on. Im excited
to be a part of it.
SKIDDY: It’s like a perfect circle.
BELO: Yeah, I’ve been workin’ hard on that.
Gettin’ it done, hopefully. Either way, it’s also
like a homie video, like a fam video.
SKIDDY: How are your sponsorships?
BELO: Skateworks is my main sponsorship. I
get flow for Krux Trucks. Guayaki Yerba Mate
flows me drinks. I do some research and devel-
opment (R&D) for NHS (Santa Cruz Skateboards),
which is rad. Its cool, it helps out a lot. I feel
lucky to have any support in skating.
