NOSE MANUAL- AARON PETTIGREW
SKIDDY: What do you get from music, I
mean why do you like playing guitar?
BELO: I don’t really consider myself a musi-
cally inclined person. I don’t really follow
music too much. I like trying to learn to play
the guitar, it’s fun!
SKIDDY: Where do you go mentally when
you start playing music?
BELO: When you first look at a guitar and you
first look at a skateboard, if you’ve never
messed with it before, it just looks like a
piece of wood. You’ve seen it, you’ve heard
it—you know what it can do...and it’s so chal-
lenging, but when you find your flow in it,
when you piece together enough chords
or you can piece an ollie into a wheelie—
whatever it is—you get in that zone, and you
feel super good and you can free flow with
expression with it.
SKIDDY: You just get lost in your mind?
BELO: Yeah you just get in that space
between thoughts and that kind of cuts
through the stress in my mind. You won’t
get as hurt playing guitar. Skating gives you
a broad spectrum of feelings like the guitar.
I just really like the guitar and I’ve always
wanted to learn something else besides
skateboarding, something super fun I could
get into, like I did with skating and kind of
get super obsessive about it, and try to
get good at it. But by all means i am not a
great guitar player. I just enjoy it like i enjoy
skateboarding.
SKIDDY: How old are you?
BELO: 31.
