The 2020 Subaru Outback Lights Up New York
On April 17, the all-new 2020 Subaru Outback made its global
debut at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. Built on
the new Subaru Global Platform and offering the choice of two
new SUBARU BOXER® engines, the forthcoming Outback
promises to deliver class-leading levels of adventure-ready
capability.
Building on the Subaru “Dynamic x Solid” design
philosophy, the sixth-generation Outback incorporates an
“Active x Tough” concept that expresses both athleticism
and strength. Highlights of the exterior design include the
prominent wheel arches, wheel arch mouldings and rough-
and-ready lower cladding. The aggressive silhouette and
high ground clearance further emphasize what is a strong,
planted stance.
Under the skin, the 2020 Subaru Outback comes equipped
with standard Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time All-Wheel
Drive, standard X-MODE and, for the first time, standard
active torque vectoring. A dual-function version of
X-MODE, with settings designed to tackle snow/dirt and
deep snow/mud, is an available option.
In the interests of safety, the next generation Outback
comes standard with the Subaru EyeSight® Driver-Assist
Technology system, which now includes Advanced Adaptive
Cruise Control. This feature helps keep the vehicle centred
in its lane and at a safe distance behind the vehicle ahead
while the cruise control system is engaged. The new Outback
will also be available with the award-winning Subaru
DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, which debuted
last year on the Subaru Forester.
The 2020 Subaru Outback will arrive in dealerships later this
