SUBARU 360°
SUBARU SET TO
SCALE NEW HEIGHTS
The 2017 New York International Auto Show was a huge affair for Subaru, perhaps one of
the biggest and most important car shows in recent memory. The Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center was the setting for the launch of the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek and Subaru Outback. But
in another section of the Subaru stand, an even more important design concept, one that
will closely mirror a fast-approaching production model, was unveiled.
Fittingly, this new concept is called the Subaru Ascent.
Set to go on sale by early 2018, the Ascent is an all-new, three-row SUV that’s built
upon the new Subaru Global Platform. From the very first look at the design concept,
it’s clear that this Subaru has been engineered for capability and versatility throughout.
In terms of size, the Ascent is significantly longer, wider and taller than the Outback.
The ultra-rugged exterior design and healthy ground clearance signal that this SUV
will be able to tackle the roughest terrain. The passenger cabin will have ample space for
seven passengers.
Under the powerful hood, the design concept featured an all-new, turbocharged and
direct-injected 2.4-litre 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER. If this engine makes its way to
the production model, it’s certain to provide an inspired balance between efficiency and
driveability.
The 2019 Subaru Ascent will be produced exclusively for the North American market
at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. facility in Lafayette, Indiana. We encourage
you to turn to subaru.ca soon for more updates on this exciting addition to the Subaru
Canada line-up!
