Ken : Even when I was a kid playing videogames , I ’ d choose a Subaru every time it was available . Something about those gold stars and the aggressive headlights and the hood scoop and the aggressive looking rear ends — those hips definitely don ’ t lie !
Raymond : I ’ ve always liked them in videogames and from watching Colin McRae , Richard Burns and Tommi Mäkinen WRC videos . I ’ m on my second Subaru : I had a 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS , the GC8-bodied car — I loved that car .
Six Star : What are the Subaru qualities that most appeal to you ?
Kelly : I appreciate the high quality , the reliability and the safety . As I ’ m often commuting on a 400 series highway , I wanted a vehicle that made me feel safe and confident — my Subaru Ascent gives me that confidence .
Ken : The deeeeeeep rumble from the exhaust — and the aggressive hood scoop !
Raymond : What most appeals to me about Subaru is the unique focus on all-wheel drive and putting [ that technology ] into a high-performance package . And they ’ re always reliable .
Six Star : What ’ s the biggest adventure you ’ ve gone on in your Subaru ?
Kelly : I haven ’ t had the opportunity to take my Ascent on an adventure yet . Since rescuing our second pup in January , our biggest adventure has been having both boys together in the back . Once the world gets back to normal , I would love to pack up my Ascent and go on a camping trip with my boys .
Ken : I ’ ve driven all over Ontario in my old Subaru — a 2008 Subaru Impreza — and my current one as well . [ Up next ]: Maybe the east coast !
Raymond : I ’ ve gone on a few different snowboard trips up to Blue Mountain and driven to Ottawa for a hockey tournament in the worst kind of weather . But it ’ s a Subaru so ... no issues with Canadian winters ! My next adventure is going out west across Canada to meet up with some friends and do more snowboarding !
Six Star : Describe your most rewarding day on the job .
Kelly : Any day where I can help people or make a positive impact in their life is a rewarding day for me .
Ken : Through the pandemic , we ’ ve had nothing but an outpouring of love and support from our respective communities . This profession has really came out and stood in the spotlight during these times and I feel like the general public finally has the chance to learn what paramedics do .
Raymond : I think the most rewarding aspect throughout the pandemic is seeing the community support for first-responders and frontline workers . Every day , we ’ re getting waves and “ thank you ’ s ”— it ’ s been extremely motivating and heart warming .
