A CELEBRATION OF TWO
CULTURES—TOGETHER
From August 26-27, the largest celebration of
Japanese culture in this country, Japan Festival
CANADA 2017, took place and Subaru Canada was
a proud sponsor. The second year for this unique
cultural event was held at Celebration Square in
Mississauga, Ontario, and drew the third-highest
number of visitors to the venue, behind only Canada
Day and New Year’s Eve.
The event featured a range of activities all focused
on Japanese culture, including food-tasting stations
and a live stage with performers in music, dance and
martial arts.
Childre n were encouraged to develop their
musicianship at the Yamaha booth with keyboards,
guitars and a drum kit all available to sample. More
mature visitors were drawn to the Garden Bar, where
examples of Japanese beer, sake and whisky were on
tap. There was even a Tea Corner where purveyors
of premium Japanese tea shared their expertise with
attendees of all ages.
For those more interested in high-octane Japanese
sport sedans (and who among us isn’t?), the Subaru
Canada booth featured a 2018 Subaru WRX and a
2018 Subaru WRX STI.
The theme for the event, “Rediscover the
friendship and bonding between Canada and
Japan,” encouraged both first-time visitors and those
more familiar with Japanese culture to join in the
adventure. We can’t wait for next year’s event!
