CONTEST WINNER,
STALWART FUNDRAISER
This year’s winner of the Subaru Canada “Road to Kona” contest is Brent
Smyth, an Ottawa-based athlete and ambassador for Imerman Angels, a
charitable cause that matches cancer survivors to those currently fighting the
disease. The charity is active in 60 countries and features a network of over
7,000 cancer survivors.
For over three decades, the Ironman® World Championship has brought
together athletes from around the world who are looking to test their will
against the ultimate in physical challenges. This year’s event, which was held
on October 14, saw Smyth take the start alongside some 2,300 fellow athletes;
close to 15 hours later, he was a triumphant finisher.
“Getting someone from Imerman Angels to the finish line in Kona was a
dream for us,” he said after returning home. “For that person to be me was a
dream within a dream. Subaru Canada made it all possible.”
We congratulate Brent Smyth on winning the “Road to Kona” contest, on
finishing this historic race and on being such a fantastic example to us all. To
