Philosophy: Transhumanism Transhumanism, symbolized as H+, is a philosophic and intellectual movement that supports the development of new sciences and technologies in order to improve both physical and mental capacities of humankind. According to transhumanists, we are not at our bodies’ full capabilities, so we must evolve to a new way of living that will, among other things, eliminate mortality. In order to achieve that evolution, we must undergo an era called transhumanist, where humankind will reach a different evolutional status better than what we are now, but not at its best. This era will have as objective: to take humanity to the post human era, where we are supposed to develop a body of which we have full control, physically and emotionally. Even when we are not aware, the entire scientific community, and our society, is going towards that objective of eradicating diseases and correcting or making life possible for those who attain disabilities, such as people who wear pr osthetics and are capable of living a normal life, those who design a kid who will grow up to be organ donor, we have insulin for diabetics, we have glasses for those with eye problems, or we have pacemakers for those with arrhythmias. Following this idea, it is important to talk about another of transhumanism’s beliefs: post-biological existence. This idea mainly consists on the possibility of transferring all the memory and personality of one individual to a computer or an artificial memory device so the information can be downloaded to a design baby or a robot.
