Built in the 1970’s, ABC Brickworks Food Centre is so well preserved and maintained that it remains as a popular modern destination. This place obtained its moniker from “Archipelago Brewery Company”, which is the first ever brewery in Singapore. This place is a food court without air conditioning. You should get a taste of Claypot Rice which consists of chicken, sausage, vegetables and grilled rice served in a clay pot. Ah Er Herbal Soup is also a must try, you can’t really argue when this place succeeded in entering the Michelin Bib Gourmand Singapore 2017. This food center offers cheap prices, the freshest of ingredients and no traces of MSG. Halal food kiosks have their own lane, among the kiosks are Moustache Burger and Sahabah Grill. 6 Jalan Bukit Merah HOW TO GET THERE You can take a 10 minute stroll from IKEA, close to Redhill and Queenstown MRT Station. THE BE D O K M A R K E T P LACE NON HALAL Previously well-known as Simpang Bedok, this hawker center is a newly renovated place. Located in Eastern Singapore, The Bedok Marketplace is managed by young chefs with fresh and modern food concepts such as home-baked bread, ramen, pasta or seafood. You can’t go wrong with KoKoRo Ramen and Mike’s Caribbean Food that are quite famous here. You can also try western food at ChopChop Selection that will surely keep you happy with their big portions. The only downside of this place is the difficulty to find halal food for those of you who are Muslims. 288A Bedok Road HOW TO GET THERE You can reach The Bedok Marketplace from Tanah Merah MRT Station, then take bus number 2, 9, or 49 at the nearest bus stop.
