Born on Januray 19, 1807. His father was a famous Revolutionary war figure. He attended West Point Academy. He was second in his graduating class. After graduating he fought in the Mexican American War as a General under Winfield Scott. When the war broke out he was offered the position of commander for the Union, but he declined. Lee was very patriotic and he stuck with Virginia and eventually became the commander of the Confederacy in June 1861. No one is quit sure what he plans to after this great war is over.
