or make sure you know just how
long you’ve made them wait and
that this is RIDICULOUS. None
of this behavior helps anything.
It just makes things worse. So I
ask all of you this Holiday season
to please remember these few
simple facts while you are standing in that inevitable line:
- The cashier in front of you has
no power whatsoever. They do
not make the rules. They are
simply there to get a paycheck
and pay their bills. Yelling or
complaining at them will not
help anything in any way. If
you are that upset by whatever,
calmly ask to speak to a manager.
They are trained to deal with
pleasant people such as yourself.
But again remember, they do
not make the rules in most cases
either. We all just have to follow
them.
-All of these cashiers, associates, and even managers are
only human. They get stressed,
tired, frustrated, and annoyed
too. Being trained in customer
service I understand when you
shop you expect a certain level of
service and not getting it is less
than pleasant. I have been plenty
places where I have received
horrible service. But I know bad
days happen to everybody. Maybe the reason they are being rude
is because they just got yelled at.
Combat it all with a smile. It is
about to be Christmas after all.

-And finally. Just be nice people.
Don’t argue with someone trying
to explain policies to you. Don’t
insist you get something at a different price. Don’t huff and puff
because you have to wait in line.
Smile. Whistle while you wait.
Remember the whole reason you
are out shopping in the first place.
I know from experience the difference a nice person makes in a
busy day.
