Do you spend a lot of hours writing?
It depends. When I write, I write fast. The difficult thing is to have everything organized... But writing is the easiest, for example if you write one page a day, in a year you already have a novel.
What books or authors have influenced your writing?
Well... many. From Becquer, to Lorca, Hernández ... I think that in my writing there is a part of me but also authors like Noah Gordon, Dolores Redondo, Lorenzo Silva, Vázquez Figeroa, I really like Amin Maalouf. I read everything, some give me more inspiration than others. There are also some who write very differently to me, for example Ken Follet, who describes everything in detail, and yet I love it.
What’s your favourite book?
Well, I don't know... I’d say the Bible is, because it has all the stories, I think it covers everything...
What are you working on right now?
On a short film of my book of stories, and when I have time I prepare the following novel.
Can you tell us something about it?
It’s about the Second World War.
Do you have any advice for new writers?
Yes, do not get bored and try. And although it is very difficult to publish at the beginning, just continue to try and try. And that the greatest satisfaction is for a friend to read a book of yours and get excited, the rest is vanity. And the important thing is that you write stories from the heart and stories that are true.
You were born in Seville, right? Do you have a favourite place here?
Yes, the neighbourhood of Santa Cruz
Why is it your favourite?
Because it is next to the Royal Alcazar, because I like history, because it is the old Jewish quarter, because of its narrow streets that drive me crazy.
Apart from writing, what other things inspire you?
I love photography, I love paintings as well. Generally, all arts, cinema, cooking ... Also sports and chess.
