constantly exploring and progressing while remembering where his roots are and what who his fan base is composed of. People that come to deep house and techno shows are a special breed of people. They know what kind of music they like, but they’re not opposed to feeling out new styles. Do you know what the biggest quality that a true techno fan needs though? They need some funky week old underwear that’s going to make them dance like they’ve been injected with adrenaline and dopamine at the same time. This is what Seth gives them, even though his style of Dj’ing his grown over the years you’ll be hard pressed to find a Troxler fan that couldn’t pick one of his sets out of a line-up.

This is quite evident in his career thus far. He’s moved from record label to record label, group to group trying different working relationships with different DJ’s, and all of them have yielded beautiful music and legendary shows. His last venture was a group called Visionquest with three other DJ’s Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss and Shaun Reeves. Four like-minded artists, whose styles feed off each other, and most importantly, had fun together.

I recently attended a festival at the original Woodstock grounds. Besides being one of the best weekends of my life, I saw probably my favorite set so far in my short life. Visionquest played in an 1800’s western style bar/stage that was completely enclosed for over 5 hours. In the world of deep-house and techno DJ’s 5 hours isn’t that unheard of for a set, but being at one of the top festivals in the world, nobody got that kind of time.

in the world, nobody got that kind of time.

As always though, there was a reason they got that much time. To put it lightly, they brought some of the most thunderous, dirty, trippy beats at the entire festival. Seth of course had the closing set of the four of them, and he did not disappoint. After thoroughly rearranging everyone in attendances brain waves and setting their lives on new positive paths, he had a true to life Seth Troxler moment. With maybe half an hour left on his set he turned the music down a little bit and addressed the crowd. “ This is a shitload more fun than that shit going on over there huh?” He motioned to the main stage, which Steve Aoki was currently playing, and with a thunderous cheer and pure bliss the entire crowd erupted in applause while orgasmic screams of “YESSSS” could be heard throughout the entire stage. With that he turned the tunes back up and the place exploded, going strong for another half an hour while everyone, myself included, got back to the task at hand, dancing, and Seth got back to what he does best besides maybe BBQ’ing, DJ’ing.
