Sid's Opened Lid Do You Have SOL? Issue 1 June 2014 | Page 27

Thus the chance of missing the cigarette each day makes us healthier

And thus the bliss of accomplishment

Is tainted by eye-opening thoughts of getting help

And peaceful moments of breathing easily with this regard their paths are wide open

And lose the smoke filled brain in favor of the clean fresh air

We're just hanging onto clouds waiting for something, but nothing, swinging from branches, and climbing up the walls. We've seen it all. Purple scars, to broken arms. Bloodshot eyes, to pure white. Nosebleeds and you just can't be clean. Standing on the ceiling, screaming for a feeling, but there's nothing, but something. Can you hear what your voice is saying? Can you feel what you're feeling? I see in colors, you hide in black and white. We've seen it all. Tears falling to parents calling. Broken hearts to fucked up lives. We've seen it all. Something but nothing.

I am chasing the moon,

I am swinging from tree to tree,

I am running from leaf to leaf,

I am swimming through clouds,

I am drowning in the rain drops,

I am hanging from the branches,

I am holding hands with birds,

I am flying through the ocean,

I am singing to the dolphins,

I am laughing with the ladybugs,

I am hugging the flowers,

I am sharing my happiness.

(A new version of "To be or not to be")

To be an addict or to get help- that is the question.

Whether 'tis easier to surrender to your temptation

And face the long consequence

Or to admit your in need of help

And take the next step forward

To smoke, to take one more hit-

No more- and by admitting to say "help"

I am accomplishing so much more

Each day holds-

'Tis a complicated decision

I do not wish to think about

To get help, to quit-

To breathe easily, Ay, there's the goal.

For in breathing easily what events may come about

Running, biking, or simply walking

This must make us stop and think

That's the idea

That makes good choices easier.

For who really wants to feel tired after a walk.

The beating of your heart fast.

The disappointment of the smell of smoke.

And the looks of disagreement.

To feel healthy, and smoke free.

To smoke, to feel the dizziness in your head

To feel relaxed from your stress

But that the horror that something may be missed while quitting.

The unknown time period of going without a cigarette

The gossips discuss

While we stand in a confused daze

Wishing we had just one more.
