"How do I deal with losing friends because I recently
claimed edge?" - Allie M
First off, remember that these people aren't your real friends. If they were, they would stay
being your friends despite you choosing a different way to live your life.
It sucks when some people slowly fade away because you're not interested in consuming
any type of drug, especially since you've probably known these people for a good while.
However, if their friendship is based on doing drugs/drinking/smoking and that only, do
you really want those people to be your friends?
After high school and after officially claiming edge, I lost quite a few people in my life that
I was close with in high school, but then I started to realize that the only time we really
hung out was at parties or this place called "Smoker's Corner" at school where we'd all
smoke cigarettes and talk about random things. It made me realize that without having a
cigarette in my hand or partying till I felt sick, I didn't mean much to them, but that's okay.
You'll find new friends, trust me. Until then, take some YOU time. Get into music, read a
book, watch a movie or television series - do something distracting to get your mind off
those lame kids.
