T he red naped ibis was also known as the Indian black ibis, black ibis, KAALI KANSAR in Gujarati and scientific name is Pseudibis papillosa.The Red Naped Ibis is a species of ibis found in parts of South Asian coun- tries. The red naped ibis is a large black bird with long legs and a long bill, it has a curlew-like long down curved bill, a black head with a patch of crimson and red strap on head. They are found in dry fields and at a good distance away from water, lakes, rivers. The red naped ibis is taken insects, frogs, small vertebrates and grain in food. It nests in trees and breeds from March to October in North India. They walk and like other tactile feeding ibises, probe in the soft ground. It is not as aquatic as many other species of ibis. The rarely wade in water. These ibis are bigger than glossy ibis but when seems far away they look like equal and one type ibis.
