SHORT WAVES FESTIVAL 2017 the most concise short film festival. 21— 26.03.2017
Short, concise, diverse. Short Waves Festival 2017 is the 9th edition of the international short film festival taking place on 21-26 March 2017.
Short Waves Festival is a network of film events scattered around the urban space of Poznań. Its core consists of competition screenings – a carefully put together selection of outstanding short films divided into four categories: International Competition, Polish Competition, Dances with Camera and experimental unxpctd. mov. An important element of projects beyond the competitions during this year’ s edition will be the focus on German cinema, which will include ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival, Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Christoph Girardet retrospective, and Matthias Wermke & Mischa Leinkauf exhibition. In the program, there are also short animations and last year’ s Oscar nominations – Oscar ® Nominated Shorts and European Film Awards nominated productions. There is also a new addition to the program entitled New Queer Visions- a section focusing on sexual, cultural and racial diversity.
An important part of the program is constituted by the sections dedicated to specific age groups: children – SWF Family and seniors – Old Man Who Can. For the first time, the Festival will present an unique set of videos entitled Saving Pop Culture from Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen. The program will be filled with special events such as Fusion Cinema and Random Home Cinema – film screenings in poznanian’ s private apartments. It also includes meetings and discussion panels associated with European Short Pitch and Poznań Industry Weekend, as well as project and screenwriting workshops, and will be completed with an afterparty taking place at LAS club on Małe Garbary. The events will be taking place in various locations across Poznań: arthouses, clubs and cultural centers.
