CAPE MAY / WILDWOOD SALTWATER FISHING REPORT

The local party boats reported good catches of fluke this week while fishing the Wildwood and Cape May reef sites. Anglers used squid, mackerel strips and jigs tipped with Gulp baits to catch short and keeper size summer flounder. We also had some reports of bluefin tuna at the inshore lumps some as close as 10 miles offshore while on the troll this week. It seems the warmer water temps. have pushed out most of the stripers and black drum and the smaller summer fish are moving on to the beaches. Surf anglers caught kingfish, croakers and weakfish off the area beaches with bloodworms and fishbites. There were also some keeper fluke caught off the surf as well on minnows and Gulp baits. Around the jetties here in Cape May anglers used sand fleas, fiddler and asian crabs on tog jigs to catch sheepshead. Crabbing in the back bays is slowly improving and we had some good reports of big blue claw crabs caught lately. Flounder season seems to be off to a good start this year, so get out to reef sites and try your luck. Tight lines, Cape May Bait & Tackle.
