I
nterviewer: Who is Curls Deep and where
is Curls Deep from ?
Curls Deep: Curls Deep is originally known as
Yanga Mtshakaca, born in 1991/09/09.I was
born, raised and spent most of my child hood
days in Mthatha and around the province.
Interviewer: Can you tell us more about the
Interviewer: Curls Deep, when did you notice
that you had love for House Music and what
sparked that love for House Music? “Any musical
influences”?
Curls Deep: When I was in primary, I use to host
party sessions in my class room every Fridays, no
music just me beating desk for drums and
the young Curls Deep growing
up, what kind of a childhood you
had my man?
Curls Deep: I was always a
lover of music, particularly
house. I acquired my skills at the
tender age of 15years while
following the late Qaqambile
Bulo (DJ Surprise) and Lwando “Curls Deep and Ritz At Imbizo”
Madaza (DJ Stitch) U.C.R FM former Djs,
around when they hosted house sessions. Being
a fast learner, I was quick to pick up the mixing
techniques and it carried me all the way to high
school.
After completing Grade 12, I moved to. That is
where I came first in a battle of the Djs
competition hosted by Rose Bank College.
Then in 2011, I moved to Johannesburg where
I joined the production team of
O'Tee
Productions and I was directly involved in the
recording tracks for various artists.
windows for bass playing house
music beats..2005 December, I and
my cousin went to Johannesburg
for holidays. Fortunately for me,
my uncle whom we visited was
working at a Recording Studio. We
recorded 3 kwaito tracks, and then
I got inspired and motivated to
carry on with music. After, I
decided to learn how to Dj since my cousin was a
Dj.
Interviewer: We all aware that the Eastern Cape
province is a bit behind when it comes to Deep
House Music. So with that in mind what has been
your biggest challenge thus far my man?
Curls Deep: It is challenging because I have to
search on the internet for new Deejays and their
music but luckily for me I‟m connected with other
D js from other Provinces so they share some of
new stuff.
