Fred Douglass Early Childhood Center: Founded
in 1943, the Fred Douglass Early Childhood Center
(or FDECC) houses the district’s Pre-Kindergarten
Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD), Head
Start, and Pre-kindergarten. Named for the famed
orator Fred Douglass, the center is home to the
Panthers.
Crutchfield Elementary School: Crutchfield
Elementary, founded in 1953, houses students from
Kindergarten to fourth grade. It is named for Mary
Crutchfield, a well-loved teacher at Washington
Elementary and Sherman High School at the turn
of the 20th century. The elementary school is home
to the Cougars and is the site for the Regional Day
School for the Deaf.
Fairview Elementary School: Founded in 1951,
