ORCHESTRA
Sherman HS orchestra students participated in the
Region 25 UIL Solo and Ensemble contest at Lovejoy HS.
Students who received Excellent ratings for their solos and
ensembles are Dellany Stratton, Haley Perkins, Aiden Hill,
Shiyu Zhu, Jaqueline Gandara, Sydney Harman, Alexis
Jackman, Noel Cobb, Alexa Mauldin, and Duncan May.
FCCLA STATE BOUND
The Sherman High School Family, Career and Community
Leaders of America is state bound after team members
took top honors at Leadership competition. In addition to
the contest honors, Sherman HS junior Angelus Zaragoza
was elected Region III Vice President of Correspondence,
senior Leo Bautista received a $500 scholarship to the
Escoiffer Culinary School and the chapter was awarded
$750 for the Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety
project. Sherman HS teacher and FCCLA sponsor Verna
Sharer was honored with honorary membership into
FCCLA. Sharer has taught for 28 years and saw her first
student go to nationals in 2017. Click here for photos and

National Programs in Action - FACTS project - 5th place
The following Orchestra Soloists received Superior ratings,
and qualify to perform at the State Solo contest at The
University of Texas at Austin in May: Brendan Smith on
violin, Maddi Dorris on viola, Sam Kratochvil on string bass
