On meeting I started to mention something I had been reading about perception of the sector being

over the top on political correctness, then started warming to my theme (big mistake).

I made the fatal error of mentioning nursery rhymes, and tongue firmly in cheek in this day and age

maintaining them as they are is unfair, unequal and unreasonable, and I was in fact surprised that

Three Blind Mice had not been revised. Do the Disability groups have a view on this? Popular and

accepted description of “blind” these days is visually impaired, and of course there are many types

of mice “the diversity within the diversity”.

“What kind of mice? And why are they not given their proper name?”

“If, as I suspect they are field mice they should be called Apodemus agrarius” (I only knew this

because my daughter AKA the teenager some years before had looked it up for Science.)

“Then of course, these days more and more farmers are becoming part of agricultural cooperatives,

which is much more equitable, environmental and enlightened, Anyway, not all Farmers are men, and the construct of marriage in society is a lot less common, loads just live together now with partners, and they could be LGBT . Really when you think about it the whole thing needs revising, LOL!”

I’m not laughing out loud now. I sort of knew as I got half way through that the message was not

being received as it was meant. Zemy’s eyes started to glint, nodding her head earnestly with

intermittent uh-huh, uh-huh’s, then finally “of course Tee your right. We could do a session on this”!
