Sayers admits that she finds it difficult to engage in penetrative sex . “ The discomfort during sex takes away from the pleasure . Most of the time , I don ' t orgasm with penetration and when I do , it ' s too painful to enjoy ," Sayers explains .

The 20 year old is among between 70 and 80 % of women with endometriosis that will not orgasm with penetration according to statistics from the National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyle ( NATSAL ).
In a webinar hosted by Endometriosis UK in February 2021 , guest speaker Hannah Beecham , Clinical Lead of the Pelvic Health Team and Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner at the Royal Free London NHS Trust , revealed that the careful use of devices can help relieve tensions in the pelvic floor muscles which “ often tense up and become tight in people who have endometriosis .”
Sayers says that the use of vibrators for her “ helps relax the muscles in the vagina itself and makes having sex slightly more bearable .”
“ It ’ s hard to enjoy sex in the same way that I imagine other women do , but I try not to let it get to me ,” Sayers explains , leaving us with the wise words : “ I can still be a freak in the sheets in my own way .”
