Trejo’ s Tacos and the Everest Foundation Bring Hot Barbacoa Treats to Kedren
Kedren Community Health Center was the recent site of a unique outreach effort by Trejo’ s Tacos to bring welcome joy and happiness to local residents in the form of 500 free barbacoa bowls featuring grilled chicken, Spanish rice, mixed beans, roasted corn, salsa verde, and Trejo’ s signature pico de gallo.
Actor / entrepreneur Danny Trejo has been staging these events in association with the Everest Foundation as a ray of hope during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Foundation strives to be part of the cure by assisting medical research in schools of medicine, universities of higher learning, communities and individuals.
Kedren CMO Dr. Rahn Bailey saw the effort as a timely, positive step in spreading goodwill and relieving stress. CDU’ s Psychiatry Residency program also participated in the event, staged in the outpatient center parking lot.
Trejo’ s project peviously brought food to Cedars- Sinai Medical Center. The company has also been a continuous fixture on Skid Row, serving the needs of downtown homeless population. Bringing food to the south Los Angeles neighborhood is special, noted Trejo, because it is reminiscent of where he grew up.
