HRSA GRANT Assists CDU in Promoting Community Wellness
( continued)
Dr. Robert Marzio’ s workshop on coping with stress and anxiety.
The project is comprehensive in scope. Senior project administrator Kevin Hatcher and the HRSA team has engaged a 14-member core group of clinical educators, drawn from campus departments including Human Resources, Student Affairs and University faculty.
Project leads from training sites also participate. They have produced a CDU mental health support guide that includes listings of individual counseling providers, suicide prevention resources; safety, substance abuse, and financial wellness counselors.
Additionally, the HRSA team contracted with Encore Wellness and Weight Loss, Inc. for professional services. Encore’ s value proposition is based on developing health and wellness plans that improve individual lives, embrace morale and productivity, and avert burnout. Encore Chief Medical Officer Dr. Donald Henderson has been training program participants in the eight dimensions of personal wellness.
Student Health and Wellness Program Coordinator Dr. Robert Marzio has been teaching a curse entitled Coping with the Stress and Anxiety of COVID-19 for Residents, and PA Students. His aim is to help professionals how to recognize and manage anxiety associated with COVID-19 and learn better ways to manage stress and create self-care plans.
Kedren Community Health Center and MLKCH / OPC will receive over $ 400,000 in sub-award funds from the core grant to advance the integration of care levels and incorporate provider wellness amongst other trainings. CDU, along with Encore and other experts, will utilize team web-based surveys to understand the variety of community health and wellness needs.
