Years of AJC diplomacy , relationship-building , and research help shape Nostra Aetate , the Vatican II document heralding a new era in Catholic-Jewish relations . Through direct dialogue with the Catholic Church , AJC played a key role in the development of this groundbreaking statement that removed the charge of deicide against the Jewish people .
1975
In response to the infamous “ Zionism Is Racism ” resolution at the United Nations — a joint Soviet-Arab strategy to introduce a new dimension of antisemitism in the world by associating the cause of Israel and Zionism with racism — AJC launches and sustains a sixteenyear media and advocacy campaign , which helps lead to the resolution ’ s repeal in 1991 .
AJC has been at the forefront of efforts to repeal … the obscene 1975 ‘ Zionism Is Racism ’ UN resolution …. There has been an inability to understand just how dangerous this resolution was to Israel . But AJC did understand . And persisted .
