In 1906 , a group of visionary American Jews — industrialists , bankers , lawyers , judges , professors , and rabbis — created a new Jewish organization , American Jewish Committee . They would go on to change history . The scope and depth of AJC ’ s accomplishments in the decades that followed were fueled from the start by bold ideas , coupled with innovation and perseverance .
Today , the Jewish community confronts a range of difficult issues . There are no easy answers . But this timeline illustrates that complex challenges are not new to us . AJC has always had the vision and courage to reimagine a brighter future for the Jewish people and the world . And , with the help of friends and partners , we continue to engage in the pathbreaking work that will make this future a reality .
