In the aftermath of that dark day, AJC San Diego has brought AJC’ s unique blend of global advocacy savvy and expertise to the Jewish community of San Diego as they confront an unprecedented level of hatred against Jews and Israel. This includes understanding how to influence policy, mobilize support, and create impactful change.
Since its founding, AJC San Diego has made its mark on the region in the following ways: 1. Education Expertise
In response to the rise of antisemitic incidents since October 7, AJC San Diego has successfully fought to ensure K-12 schools throughout the region use language about Israel and Judaism that is reflective of the Jewish community. On an ongoing basis, AJC San Diego engages with key education stakeholders to combat anti-Jewish and anti-Israel bias from K-12 schools to university and college campuses.
2. Combating Antisemitism
In partnership with the local Jewish Federation, AJC San Diego led a first-of-its-kind community-wide“ Standing Together: A Community Response to Antisemitism” event that was attended by more than 350 community leaders. The event gave local officials the key insights, tools, and guidance needed to beat back the spread of Jew-hatred throughout the San Diego area.
3. Coalition Building
AJC San Diego continues to bolster the strategic alliance between the Jewish and Latino communities of San Diego, working with Jewish Latinos as a key partner in this endeavor. Amid a massive anti-Israel disinformation campaign since October 7, AJC San Diego has prioritized intergroup and interfaith ties to generate further dialogue between these two communities.
